Jacomo Bairos

August 14

Described in the press as “thrilling,” “inspirational,” and “world-class,” Portuguese-American conductor Jacomo Bairos challenges the preconceptions of orchestral repertoire by fusing musical genres and integrating the orchestra into the broader community in new and dynamic ways. Annually in demand with some of the world’s great orchestral institutions, Mr. Bairos has collaborated with the Boston Pops, San Francisco Symphony, and National Symphony Orchestra, to name a few. He also works closely with today’s most prolific and inspiring Grammy and Award-winning soloists of both classical and contemporary worlds. A graduate of The Juilliard School and Peabody Institute, Mr. Bairos has performed, recorded, and toured the world with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.

Defined by innovative programming, genre-bending collaborations, artistic excellence, and community and institution building, as well as education initiatives infused with mindful and wellness practices, Mr. Bairos has reframed the role an artistic leader can hold for their organization and the community they serve. In addition, he teaches and guides group meditations, mindfulness practices, and yoga to the youth members of Nu Deco NXT and provides workshops to the public-school music teachers of South Florida. He makes his home on Miami Beach with his Carolina dog, Sophie.
