    Vadim Gluzman partners with Festival musicians to bring you two jewels of the chamber repertoire. Igor Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne is an arrangement for violin and piano of the composer’s score for the hugely successful ballet Pucinella. Tchaikovsky’s only string sextet, Souvenir de Florence, owes its name to a lovely melody he thought of while in Florence working on something else. And that’s as Italian as this (very Russian) piece gets!

  • 5 Minutes That Will Make You Love Harp Music

    Principal Gretchen Van Hoesen presents two works for solo harp from her hometown of Pittsburgh: composer Gary Schocker’s “Quest" from "Quest-Reunion” and “Fire Dance” from Petite Suite for Harp by David Watkins.   • George Li with Festival Musicians

    It’s a rare treat to hear two world-class pianists at the same time, so mark your calendars for this performance by George Li and Peter Henderson, the Festival’s Principal Keyboard. They’ll play Schubert’s Fantasy in F Minor, a haunting piece, in which according to one critic, “we hear Schubert’s soul pouring itself out like a nightingale in the flowering shrubs.” Following, Festival musicians join Li for Schumann’s Piano Quintet, a piece widely regarded as one of the composer’s finest compositions. It was the first piano quintet ever written and was premiered featuring the composer’s spouse, pianist Clara Schumann (a gifted musician in her own right!).

    What better way to celebrate a year of musical performances than with more music! The Sun Valley Music Festival is pleased to offer you an exclusive, online performance by pianist Orion Weiss, one of the most sought-after performers of his generation, with this year’s Annual Report. Enjoy 20 minutes of music by Grieg, Albéniz, and Debussy from anywhere and on any internet-connected device. Originally recorded in 2020, this performance is free, of course, and will be available through November 30, 2022 on the Festival website and YouTube channel.
