Principal, Vallejo Symphony

Melanie Keller enjoys a varied career as orchestral musician, chamber musician, music educator, and music administrator. She is Principal Flutist and Personnel Manager of the Vallejo Symphony, Symphony Napa Valley, and Opera Idaho Orchestra and performs regularly with the Boise Philharmonic. In addition to performing with the Sun Valley Music Festival Orchestra, she has also spent recent summers playing with the McCall Summerfest Orchestra and at Festival Napa Valley. She is a founding member of Tree City Chamber Players, an ensemble that supports local non-profits and charities with each recital. A frequent prizewinner at national flute competitions, she won 1st Place in the 2005 Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair Young Artist Competition. She earned her MM in the studio of Timothy Day at the San Francisco Conservatory and her BM in the studio of Mark Sparks at the Peabody Institute. A passionate educator, she serves as the flute instructor at the College of Idaho and the Dunkley School of Music. Her students have placed in national competitions and have enjoyed participating in All-State and All-Northwest Bands.

Melanie resides in beautiful Boise, Idaho with her husband Blaise and their sons, Owen and Jacob.
