Named a 2009 Presidential Scholar in the Arts by the U.S. Department of Education, violinist Andrea Jarrett received her Master of Music Degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Mayo 2015. While obtaining her degree, Andrea was a student of Kathleen Winkler and served as concertmaster of both the chamber and symphony orchestras. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree from The Juilliard School in 2013, where she studied with David Chan.  Andrea was appointed to the second violin section of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra by David Robertson in 2015.  She made her solo debut with the orchestra in 2019 performing Kreisler’s “Liebesleid” with Music Director Stéphane Denève. Andrea has also performed as a guest with the San Diego Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Minnesota Orchestra.

Prior to her appointment with the symphony, Ms. Jarrett participated in the 2013 New York String Orchestra Seminar under the direction of Jaime Laredo.  While attending Juilliard, Andrea gave the world premiere of composer Neil Rolnick’s concerto for violin and electronics in Noviembre 2012, titled “Gardening at Gropius House.” Another highlight during her undergraduate years was her performance of the Mendelssohn Octet in the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Meet the Music! Concert Series.

Durante sus años de instituto, la Srta. Jarrett fue miembro del programa de la Academia del Instituto de Música de Chicago, donde estudió con Almita y Roland Vamos. Andrea recibió el Premio de Plata en Música/Violín de la Fundación Nacional para el Avance de las Artes en enero de 2009. También apasionada de la música de cámara, Andrea fue miembro del Cuarteto Polaris, ganador de la Medalla de Oro del Concurso Nacional de Música de Cámara Fischoff 2008, División Junior. Actuó con Quartet Polaris en la serie de música clásica de NPR "From the Top". Natural del Medio Oeste, Andrea actuó como solista con las orquestas sinfónicas de Dearborn, Birmingham-Bloomfield, Toledo y Ann Arbor durante sus estudios de secundaria.

Throughout her education, Andrea was fortunate to attend many summer music festivals including Taos School of Music, Pacific Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and Interlochen Arts camp among others. She first performed with the Sun Valley Music Festival in the 2019 season and has been lucky enough to return ever since.
