{"id":2267,"date":"2019-06-07T23:51:46","date_gmt":"2019-06-07T23:51:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.svmusicfestival.org\/?post_type=people&#038;p=2267"},"modified":"2021-05-26T11:43:47","modified_gmt":"2021-05-26T17:43:47","slug":"andrew-mccandless","status":"publish","type":"people","link":"https:\/\/www.svmusicfestival.org\/staging\/people\/andrew-mccandless\/","title":{"rendered":"Andrew McCandless"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Andrew McCandless was appointed Principal Trumpet with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 1999 and has established himself as a prominent brass player in the orchestral world.\u00a0 Since his first professional position at the age of 20 with the Savannah Symphony, Andrew has also held the position of Principal Trumpet with many notable orchestras including the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Dallas Symphony Orchestra.\u00a0 In 2010, Andrew performed the world premiere of <em>Songs of the Paradise Saloon<\/em>, a trumpet concerto written specifically for him by Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Music Director Bramwell Tovey, and commissioned by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Andrew began playing the trumpet at the age of nine while studying at the Youth Performing Arts School in his native Louisville, Kentucky.\u00a0 He continued his studies at Boston University and the Eastman School of Music.\u00a0 As a junior in college, Andrew began playing with the Savannah Symphony as Co-Principal Trumpet.\u00a0 In addition to his performing career, he is very involved with classical music education.\u00a0 He is on faculty at The Royal Conservatory of Music, teaches privately, and has given master classes throughout North America, including at the Eastman School of Music, University of Calgary, University of Toronto and Northwestern University.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":7597,"template":"","class_list":["post-2267","people","type-people","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":{"instrument_department":"Trumpet","sun_valley_title":"Principal","home_organization_title":" Principal Trumpet, Toronto Symphony Orchestra","performance_dates":""},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
