Jacob Buhler is a second-year Violin Fellow at the New World Symphony. As an orchestral musician, he has served as a section violinist with the Canton Symphony and as a substitute musician with the San Diego Symphony, Sarasota Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Recent summer engagements have included performances with the Bard Music Festival, Artosphere Festival Orchestra. and the Britt Festival Orchestra as their Assistant Principal Second Violinist. Buhler has also performed alongside Judy Collins, as well as Bradley Cooper in Netflix\u2019s Maestro (2023).<\/span><\/p>\n

Jacob regularly plays chamber music as well, and has performed with IlluminArts in Miami. At the New World Symphony, Jacob had performed chamber music alongside members of the Catalyst Quartet and members of the Cleveland Orchestra, the latter\u2019s performance of Shostakovich\u2019s 9th Quartet which has been lauded as, \u201cthe finest iteration of a string quartet heard by this listener\u2026 in more than 35 years of attending this organization\u2019s Sunday chamber programs\u201d (South Florida Classical Review).<\/span><\/p>\n

As a teacher, Jacob believes it is important to serve the community with music. He has served as a Teaching Artist with The Rainey Institute, an El Sistema program based in Cleveland, where he taught daily group lessons to young violinists and cellists. He has also worked with the Pathways Program at the Eastman Community Music School to provide free violin lessons to local students. Most recently, Jacob has served as a faculty member with the Nashville Symphony\u2019s Accelerando Program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Originally from Lake Grove, New York, Jacob received his bachelor of music degree in Applied Music with Honors and an Arts Leadership Certificate from the Eastman School of Music and his master of music in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
