Offering his thoughts\, Music Director Alasdair Neale says “In a crowded field\, it is one of Mozart’s greatest achievements\, filled with pathos and joy\, tenderness and turmoil.”

The annual Honors Recital is an opportunity for these young musicians to demonstrate their abilities\, formed through countless hours of hard work\, to a live audience. Students audition to participate and are selected by a panel of faculty members. Those chosen this year perform a variety of short works for strings\, piano\, and voice\, including eclectic selections from Bach\, Rachmaninoff\, Marcello\, and more. \nAnd this year—instead of performing live at the Community Campus in Hailey—their performances have been recorded from “living room concert halls” across the Wood River Valley to share with you online on the Festival website. As part of their Sun Valley Jazz and Music Festival appearance\, they will partner with the Sun Valley Music Festival and Blaine County Schools for an exclusive outreach concert\, followed by a series of pop-up performances throughout the Valley. \nThe morning performances kick off at the Community Campus in Hailey at 8:00 AM with a 30-minute concert featuring a collaboration of the Whiffenpoofs with vocal ensembles from the Festival’s Music Institute and the Wood River High School under the direction of Max Stimac and R.L. Rowsey.  Following\, the esteemed Yale group will travel throughout the valley to various locations for pop-up concerts.
