Choose how to watch the broadcasts
The Festival has rented a second big screen and additional speakers this year to allow up to 1,000 patrons to view the Summer Season concerts while socially distanced. To support the safest environment and respect for all patron and staff needs, please review and follow all of the guidelines below. Thank you.
- Please follow guidelines from staff and signs throughout the grounds and ask questions if you are uncertain about where to go and what to do.
- Masks will be required entering and exiting the Lawn and any time you are not in your reserved space.
- Remember to maintain appropriate social distancing (at least 6 feet from others who are not in your group) as you move about the property.
- This year, Lawn spaces have been sectioned into socially-distanced “pods” that can accommodate several household sizes (up to 2, 4, or 6 people each) to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy the broadcasts in person, safely. Reserve yours by clicking here.
- Low-backed lawn chairs are a great idea. Note: if a basketball could fit under your chair, it is too tall and could obstruct the views of your new friends.
- The concerts begin promptly at 6:30 PM. Arrive early enough to allow time to move safely to your seating while distancing from others. Late seating will be permitted at the staff’s discretion—immediate access to your assigned seating may not be available for late arrivals.
- Please take your time exiting the Lawn to ensure consistent social distancing. Several additional exits will be opened on the lower lawn for easier distancing.
- Families are welcome for this year’s more “Pavilion-like” Lawn experience. Children 10 and over are welcome; please make sure the kids are ready for a serious classical music concert.
- In this exceptional year, no dogs are permitted on the Lawn. Of course, credentialed assistance dogs are allowed to accompany their owners.
- Help keep others healthy—please keep your program to reuse for the rest of the season. Keep the Festival green; please recycle and throw away your trash.
- Outside food and beverage are welcome.
- The Lawn Party, Pre-Concert Chats, Kids’ Music Tent, and Family Night Instrument Petting Zoo will return next year, after a hiatus this summer to ensure health and safety for all.
- Please silence phones and other devices. Drones are prohibited on the property.
- Mountain weather is unpredictable. Please dress accordingly and bring something warm, just in case!

All concerts are free, broadcast live at 6:30 PM (MT) on the Festival website (svmusicfestival.org).
Remember, broadcasts are not available on-demand or for download, so please be sure to attend on the scheduled dates.

- If the video doesn’t start automatically, select the play button; (available at event start time).
Tips for online viewing
- What you’ll need: a device that can connect to the internet, with speakers or earphones.
- Close programs or apps on other devices in the home— including tablets, smart TV’s, or other computers—so they don’t drain internet speeds and slow the broadcast.
- Join early at 6:15 PM (MT) to ensure you can connect.
- Check speaker or headphone connections and make sure the volume is turned up enough to hear.
- Consider connecting your computer to a TV or large screen, as well as external speakers, to enjoy the video and sound.
- Need a program book? Pick one up at the Festival Store, located to the left of the main Sun Valley Pavilion entrance. Or, drop by the Music Festival office at 120 North 2nd Avenue, Suite 103, Ketchum during business hours. Program books will be available in the lobby by the door to the office.

Watch on your home theater system with a smart TV, connected mobile device, or streaming service (like Apple TV); just install the YouTube app and search for the Sun Valley Music Festival to find the concerts.
Can’t get the YouTube app on your TV or streaming service? Some devices allow you to mirror your computer, tablet, or smartphone to your TV using Apple AirPlay, Roku, Google Chromecast, or similar methods. Or, connect your computer to your TV with an HDMI Cable.

Watching 2020 summer concerts
All concert broadcasts will begin at 6:30 PM (Mountain Time) and will run under an hour (except for the Gala, which may be longer).
Enjoy the music from anywhere—and invite your friends from across the globe to join in—by watching from the Festival website or gathering safely in a reserved space on the Sun Valley Pavilion Lawn (health guidelines permitting).
All concert broadcasts are free, including the August 3 Gala concert.

Attending winter concerts
Concerts are held at the Argyros Performing Arts Center in Ketchum
Performances begin at 6:30 PM and last about 2 hours, including 2 intermissions
Reservations strongly encouraged
While admission is free, seating is open and capacity is limited, so reservations are encouraged. Limited rush seats may be available at the door before each performance.
All musicians and guest artists will work with students throughout the week.
A unique concert experience
The Music Festival will transform the Argyros into a nightclub for classical music. One patron remarked, “…it’s as if the lawn came inside!” There’s some truth in that, and here’s what to expect:
- Open seating: Your reservation will get you in the door, but seating is first-come, first-choice.
- Communal atmosphere: Seats are not in rows, but rather in conversational groupings and other configurations. Arrange the surroundings to meet your friends, or make new ones!
- Mingle with musicians: A unique stage setup situates musicians among audience members. See and hear the music up close, and then chat with the musicians during breaks.
The Argyros is equipped with a Meyer Constellation Sound System. This technology allows the Festival to change the acoustics to match the needs of the repertoire. With the push of a button, the sound can change from the echo-ey reverberations of a stone cathedral to the warm intimacy of a softly furnished salon. During rehearsals, Festival musicians and sound technicians work together to dial in exactly the right reverberations and reflections to create the desired sonic clarity, warmth, and resonance for each piece.
With just one opportunity to perform for you during the winter, the Festival offers a longer program with more music, including:
- Three acts, each around 30 minutes
- Two 20-minute intermissions
- An in-theater bar offers wine, beer, and light bites available for purchase to sustain you through the show
As seating capacity is limited to less than 300, the Festival will repeat the program each of three nights, allowing as many patrons as possible to attend (for free, of course).
